Oh me, oh my (Alcohol related post)

All I have to say is "Whoa." Ok, so let me get this straight. I can be arrested IN A BAR for being "inappropriately loud." I've been "inappropriately loud" my entire life but now if I have a beer or three in a bar in Texas and tell my friends a tale in my normal voice I can be arrested and/or fine up to $500??? This is pure absurdety at it's best and at worst it's a knee jerk reaction to Texas being the state that had the most amount of DUI-related deaths in the nation.
The true reason I am upset by this article is the way they are justifying the enforcement of it. Texas is saying that if you are drunk at the bar, regardless of whether or not you have keys in your pocket or have any intent to drive you automatically become a "public health risk" and you are a "danger to yourself and others." Yikes, that sounds an awful lot like the reasons NY banned smoking in bars. It was a "public heath hazard."
I'm sorry, but I've been drunk on many occasions and I've never intoxicated anyone through osmosis, nor have I gotten into any barfights in the 10+ years I've been drinking in bars. This smacks of greed in my opinion. Who collects the $500 bucks that you pay for getting drunk in a bar? Oh, that's right, Texas does.
Read the part about the guy that was arrested in his hotel bar and tell me what you think about this absurd practice that Texas has adopted. Anyone watched Minority Report? This sounds so much like "Pre-Crime". "We're arresting you because you might do something baaad..."
I'm out, I'm going to have a beer. Eeek, don't tell the Texas Rangers
